DESCRIPTION
The Advisory Board offers many different grants. To be considered for ANY grant, you must fill out an application with your most current information, including updated transcript.
REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be students currently enrolled at BTW. Applicants seeking need-based financial aid must demonstrate financial need, provide at least one recommendation from a conservatory or academic faculty member, their transcript, a portfolio, a detailed budget, and a 200-350 word essay must also be completed. Intensive requests must be accompanied by an acceptance letter. Please upload where indicated.

These grants are needs based.We use Annual Household Income, as well as family circumstances as basis for determination.

Student submits application by deadline (completely an online process)
Committee reviews all applications individually
Committee meets to make award decisions
Notification emails are sent by end of month to students
Grants are fulfilled through the Advisory Board office.Students not given money directly.The award will be processed/paid for by the Advisory Board directly through the vendor/instructor.This includes travel arrangements.
Restrictions:
Instruments are not awarded to Freshmen
Only one instrument will be awarded to a student per year, no more than 2 during their time at Booker T Washington
Summer Intensives are not awarded to Seniors
Only one summer intensive will be awarded to a student per year, no more than 2 during their time at Booker T Washington
On college visits only one parents travel will be covered. For summer intensives no parent travel will be covered
Caps on Funding:
Private Lessons: $2400
Technology: $2400
Musical Instruments: $7000
Intensives: $5000
The Advisory Board has representatives in the Library every Thursday during lunch to answer student and parent questions and help with applications.We highly recommend having your application reviewed before submitting (especially the first time you apply). It increases your understanding of the process and will ensure your application is completed in the way the committee expects, thereby increasing your odds of an award.
